“I kept checking you were still breathing last night. I’ve never heard of anyone not moving at all the whole time they’re asleep.”

I rested my forehead against the warm comfort of Grayson’s chest, my hands roaming the corded muscles of his back. We were chest to chest, wound around each other like ivy. “If that’s what you want to call it.”

He’d woken me up twice last night, and it wasn’t to check my breathing.

His chest rumbled, his good mood putting my morning-after fears to rest.

He pulled me up so our faces were only inches apart, and our lips met in a slow kiss that stole my breath and made me squirm in his hold. We were both panting when we broke apart, resting our foreheads against each other.

Grayson trailed his hand down my arm, resting it on my hip and pulling me closer. “Tell me you’ll stay.”

I thought of all the things I had to sort out now that I was off the show and decided delaying the inevitable sounded much better. “I guess I can wait another few days before going home.”

“I was thinking a few weeks.”

I arched my back so I could look at him. “Willa is doing an amazing job at the bakery, but I need to get back to my life. Sitting around doing nothing isn’t my thing. It’d drive me crazy.”

Unfortunately, this was true. I hated being idle. I couldn’t stop basing my worth on the success of my bakery. And I refused to sit by while someone else did all the work.

Grayson didn’t give up easily, and I already knew he could talk me into almost anything. Which was why I was surprised that he would compromise. “Give me a few days. I’m not ready to let you go yet.”

I hoped that meant he felt our connection as well. “That I can do.”

“As much as I hate to leave this bed, I was supposed to start work thirty minutes ago.”

A glance at my phone told me he was right, guilt rising to the surface. “I’m so sorry. I can’t believe we didn’t hear your alarm.”

He kissed my nose and got up with a groan. Clearly, I wasn’t the only one sore from our activities. “I turned it off. Now let’s pack the rest of your stuff. We can shower at my house. More room.”

I left the warm cocoon of the blanket, pulling my underwear back on. “Pack my stuff? I thought I was staying in LA for a few days.”

“You are. But at my house, not the hotel.” Grayson shrugged on his suit jacket, hiding his wrinkled shirt underneath. He looked almost presentable, if it weren’t for the creases in his pants and the missing buttons.

I found my bra and top, pulling them both on. “I can stay at the hotel.” He didn’t seem to have a problem with me staying with him, but we’d only just reconnected. Wasn’t this too sudden?

Grayson stopped putting on his shoes and speared me with a glare. “Absolutely not.
